The Elephant In The Room

Prescription drugs. This is a controversial topic... One that I am very passionate about.

First, let me say, I am not against mental health medication. I am an advocate for all mental health treatment. I take my own anti-anxiety pills. I have found that it helps my brain function. It is my calming agent as well as an SSRI. I refer to it as my serotine boost. After years of dysfunctional chemicals entering my body, poison; I feel like I function better with it. Whether that is true or not, I do not know. But I will not miss my daily dosage of Lexapro.

I worked at a mental health clinic and what I learned while working there are a majority of issues, we deal with, can be fixed or symptoms significantly decreased by our diet. Our brain is the third largest organ in the body. If we do not eat well, we do not function well. It is that simple. 75% of the patients I had, the doctor's recommendation would be the following: Vitamin C. Vitamin D. Zinc. Gaba. B12. Exercise. Sunlight. Meditation. Engage in a hobby you enjoy.

Interesting, right? There are cases where medication is needed. But I feel like all we have to do today is drive to the doctor, get our prescription filled; only to cover up the symptom-not the problem.

There is a spiritual solution to every problem.

There are an unworldly amount of people suffering from the billion-dollar pharmaceutical industry. Even in recovery, I know I could find a doctor to write me narcotic prescriptions if I explained the right symptoms. Obviously, I choose not to. I have already been down that road and it leads me to a dark place. It is deceiving. Once you are 'hooked' it is now in control of your life. It is deceiving because it is legal. It is deceiving because your flesh is totally justified while your spirit is being tortured. It is the same concept as using illicit drugs, only accepted by society.

A couple examples: The diet pill phentermine when taken feels like meth. The pain killer Oxycodone feels like heroin.

How do I know this? I am speaking from my own personal experience.

We live in a culture encouraging mothers/fathers, young adults, even children-that taking a pill will cure anxiety, depression, mood disorder, and attention-deficit disorder. The pharmaceutical industry is capitalizing on our mental health.

Our generation of mother's have become very dependent on prescription drugs to carry out basic daily functions. How do I know? I am speaking from my own experience. Not all who take the medications abuse them; I know this. If you do not fit in the category, it is not for you. I want to bring awareness to how highly addicted the pills are and how harmful they CAN be to your overall health. When abused, like anything else, it affects your mental, physical, and spiritual body.

In saying all this, I want to share part of an article my friend had sent me. She was in a 10-year addiction to prescription drugs. It is something to think about.

"The New Testament Greek word translated "sorcery" is PHARMAKEIA, which is the source of our English word pharmacy. In Paul's day, the word primarily meant "dealing in poison" or "drug use" and was applied to divination and spell casting because sorcerers often used drugs along with their incantations and amulets to conjure occult power."

Witchcraft is real. The devil is real. Satan will use anything to destroy humanity. Do not be deceived. Am I saying, Doctors and Pharmacists are of the devil? NO! Absolutely not! All I am saying, is there is a spiritual solution to every problem. For me, it is at the feet of Jesus.

The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41
